50 Days of Babies!

50 days ago, Charlie, Annaleigh and Lily came into our lives. So much has happened in that time that we're having a hard time believing that it's only been 50 days, but at the same time it feels like just yesterday that we were being rushed through the halls of the hospital on our way to giving birth.

And we couldn't be more proud of how the babies are doing today too. The big news? CHARLIE IS OFF THE CPAP!!! His nurse had mentioned that she was going to suggest taking him off the CPAP to the doctor, but we didn't think there was any way the doctor would approve it. Well, he did and Charlie is now on the high humidity nasal cannula (which is the same thing that Annaleigh has been on for a week now). The switch was made late this morning and he's been great all day. We weren't confident Charlie could make it but in this case it is very nice to be proven wrong.

Lily has recovered nicely from her blood transfusion yesterday. They gave her a course of lasix (a diuretic) late last night because they were concerned about some fluids building up in her lungs. Because of that, she didn't gain any more weight today but she's got her color back and she was more feisty and more alert during our visits today.

Annaleigh continues to absolutely rock. She's just our little all-star. She was happy and smiling during our afternoon visit, and was more than happy to come out for a second snuggle in the evening. She added another 35 grams today and is up to 2 pounds 11 ounces. Hopefully her upward weight trend will continue.

In all, it was a very good day. Three cheers for 50 days!

Congrats on how well your babies are doing! I read your blog everyday and it warms my heart how upbeat and in sync you two are. Just a word of warning for later down the road when the babies come home... the diuretic they gave Lily can cause kidney stones. They dont tell you at the time because the benefits completely outweigh the negative. Good luck with your adorable family!

Yay, Happy 50 day Birthday babies! So glad that everyone is doing so well; it's very obvious that all three of your little ones inherited the incredible strength of their mommy and daddy. Continuing to send you all positive thoughts... :)

I continue to follow your blog every day, you two are doing great supporting your babies and giving them lots of love! The babies all look great - they are filling out and looking less "fragile" than they were just a few weeks ago. I remember seeing my little one go through that transition too. It seemed she was in the "2 pound club" forever, but once she hit 3 pounds or so, she just took off and she FLEW through the 4 and 5 pound clubs! I think you will see amazing progress in the next couple weeks. Love and luck to all of you!
