Update and thank you

First of all, thank you for all your kind comments to Joe's last post. We really appreciate all the thoughts, prayers and well wishes. And thank you to all our friends and family for your support. This has been the most surreal and terrifying 24 hours of our lives. I don't know why this keeps happening to us. I can't get over the unfairness of it all. We are just hoping with all our hearts that these babies can stay in for a few more weeks.

I'm still on the Indocin for contractions until tomorrow night. Hopefully once they stop that the contractions will stay away. My cervix was closed last night and the cerclage was in place so I'm hoping it stays that way. I got one steroid shot for the babies lungs last night and I'll get another tonight. I'm also on antibiotics and fluids. I know everything possible is being done, I just wish there was something more I could do. Joe and I took a tour of the NICU this afternoon. I'm glad we got to see it, but it was so, so hard. I cried the entire time we were in there and Joe and I both sobbed together when we got back to my room. Babies 4 weeks older than ours were just so tiny and fragile and sick - I just can't even imagine our sweet babies going through that. But it was a wonderful facility with an awesome, caring staff so I know everything will be done for them when the time comes. I just hope that time isn't for a few more weeks. I had another ultrasound this morning and the babies heart rates were all good and they were moving all around. They estimated Baby A to be 1 lb 3 oz, Baby B to be 1 lb 5 oz and Baby C to be 1 lb 6 oz. I would love to get them to 2 lbs...

So anyway, now we just keep waiting and hoping for the best. Please, please stay in there babies...

I can't possibly begin to imagine the sheer terror you are facing. We're all pulling for you. If positive energy and prayers do anything, those babies will stay put until they're teenagers. :)

Praying for you guys.
My son was born at 26w with IUGR and weighed 1lb 7oz. I was so hoping to get to 2lb as well.. but we went through the NICU with several other families with babies as small as Robbie.
I hope they hang in there quite a while longer, though!

Hi! I found your blog through Multiples and More and just wanted to say hang in there. I know how hard it is, I have twins and we got in a car accident at 26 weeks, but they managed to stop the labor and the boys hung in there until 32 weeks! The doctors know what they are doing and you and your babies are in good hands.

I will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.

I am a survivor of the pPROM, so I know exactly how you are feeling...helpless, stressed, anxious, the list goes on and on. I was a little later at 28 weeks, but I managed to bake baby another 5 weeks after that. I hope you have another few weeks for sure...

This is my blog if you want to see the day by day saga...

I saw your post on the bump, but thought I would reply on your blog as you might check it more often. I had a cerclage at 19 weeks and my water broke on baby A at 24 weeks (twin pregnancy). I was able to stay in the hospital and not deliver until 28.5 weeks. It was very hard and my boys were just under 3lbs each. They are both home now and are happy, healthy and perfect. It is certainly not ideal to have preemies, but once they reach term and come home the experience fades and you will feel happiness and joy again, I promise. Hang in there. You are doing such a good job!

Lots of prayers coming from this way. It is terribly unfair how hard things have been for you, but you are doing an awesome job for those babies. Hang in there, little ones!

Hi~
I know you from the nest and the private multiples board. I just wanted to let you know that I completely ruptured with baby A when I was 22 weeks prenant. She was able to produce just enough fulid to survive, but never was able to get another good level in her sac. I was on strict bedrest in the hospital and didn't get up for ANYTHING for almost 4 weeks. At 25w5d I went back into labor and delivered my sweet babies. They weighed 1pound 13oz each. I now have happy, healthy 19month olds. It is a long, scary, hard road, but you can do it. If you want to talk more or see my blog, ect, find me on the private board (massarn). Best of luck to you, and you all are in my prayers.

Hi Brooke --

I'm visiting from TC. I had a PPROM on Baby C at 24 weeks as well. The doctors also told me that I was making enough fuid so the Baby C was never less than 2.0 in fluid level. I got the steriod shots, and I was on every anti-contraction med and antibiotic they had including mag. Luckily it all worked, and I never dilated at all! However, I stayed in the hospital until I delivered due to HELLP Syndrome (completely unrelated to the PPROM)at 29 weeks, 4 days.

I know how scare it is, but you have to know that you are doing everything possible for your babies. Being the hospital, getting the steriod shots, taking the meds -- you are already a fantastic mommy!

One thing that I swear helped me from getting an infection is that I used Scott's wet wipes anytime I used the bedpan or restroom. I also did everything (eat, sleep, watch TV, etc) on my side.

There is a great website to help show you success stories from TONS of moms who had PPROMs: http://www.kanalen.org/prom/
It totally helped me.

Good luck -- and if you have any other questions, let me know!

My husband and I too were scared of the babies stay in the hospital. However, now that you've had a tour you'll have a better idea what to expect. Our boys were in the NICU for Baby A (8 weeks), Baby B (6 weeks) and Baby C (7 weeks). We actually cried when we brought the last baby home and have gone back to visit numerous times. The nurses and doctors become like family. Your babies will be in good hands.
