The Race is On!

Apparently Lily heard that Charlie was making a run to be the first baby home and she was having none of it. She walked right up to Dr. Hiatt and slammed her fist down and demanded that she be given a bottle today “or else,” and poor Dr. Hiatt had no choice be to do what she wanted.

I’m not sure how it actually went down, but I like picturing tiny Lily making demands. It always makes me smile.

Anyway, Lily got her first bottle today, given to her by her mommy (with a little help from Nurse Julia, of course). She just sucked some milk into her mouth and then promptly spit it right back out, all the while making accusatory faces at Brooke. It was pretty much exactly what Charlie did the first time he got a bottle. The plan is now to offer her a bottle once a day to get her used to the idea; if she’s anything like Charlie, she’ll be a bottle-feeding champ in no time.

Speaking of Charlie, he’s now allowed a whopping TWO bottles each day. He took just under half his noon feeding through his bottle before he got too tired to continue. He obviously needs to work on his stamina so we’ll bring him some Tae Bo dvds to help boost his endurance. Hopefully that’ll help. Unfortunately, he was in no mood for his second bottle this evening, but I’m sure he’ll be better tomorrow.

Otherwise, all is progressing nicely.

Charlie got two cuddles with mommy and one with daddy, plus some extra time out with Nurse Peggy. Good day for the Chunks!

Lily says, "Just give me a bottle already!"

(RE: Lily demanding a bottle from Dr. Hiatt.) Haha - I can't help but think of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, when Veruca says "But Daddy! I want it NOW." (insert stomp here.)

So happy happy happy (!) to read they are doing well! :)

Too cute!

When I started reading this post, it reminded me of those character races that they do at sporting events. Mickey Mustard, Randy Relish... you know?

Hope it continues to improve and go well!
