The NICU is so emotionally draining and it's just so important to have a sense of "normalcy" during this time. Enjoy it! As for your babies, remember that this rollercoaster ride is NORMAL. The infections are to be expected and often times you will never even find out what kind of infection your baby has. They just run their course and the antibiotics take care of everything. We have 29-weekers and now, at 8 months old, people can hardly believe they were even preemies. You'll get there, too! Oh, and all three of our girls were on vents for at least the first week. They were also put on and taken off of their feeds multiple times throughout their hospital stay. One of our girls didn't even start back up on feeds until the week before she came home...so like 35 weeks gestation! All three of ours received platelets, blood...the whole bit. So, again, all of this is very normal for preemies. Your babies are doing so well. I am looking forward to the day you announce their homecoming. It will be here before you know it!Ushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08394347850647958058noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-38836459598300412872009-07-05T20:57:40.722-04:002009-07-05T20:57:40.722-04:00Found the link to People. If you get a chance and can find it, the May 18th issue of People magazine has a story about teenagers who were micro preemies at birth. They are all grown up now and are perfectly healthy and BIG, even those born as early as 23 weeks. Your babies will pull through this--there are so many people are praying for them! I've cried over, awed over and shared your blog often with my husband this past week. I dread the day I have to leave my precious babies in the NICU but just knowing we have these blessings to begin with should keep all of us going. You seem like such a strong family. And those babies are being strong for you too. I will continue all my prayers. Take care and know that when you are there with them that they definately know it-they know you, your voice, your touch and it will help them to grow.Marciehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16871681867007303008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-48168611519686125162009-07-05T10:23:35.017-04:002009-07-05T10:23:35.017-04:00Brooke and Joe your little ones your little ones a...Brooke and Joe your little ones your little ones are in or thoughts and prayers. The pictures are adorable. The one with Lily being bashful and the one the other day of Charlie opening his eyes-- wow. What moments to capture. I'm sure they'll appreciate all of these naked pictures one day as they are whipped out at their high school graduation or some such occasion like that! And Annaleigh is beautiful-- why is it that that nose looks so cute on her.... :) LOL. Anyway, continued thoughts and prayers for the five of you. Our babies were 30 weeks when they were born, but very small and sick due to their TTTS. Now, just 9 short weeks later, I'm sitting here at home with one of them in my arms as I type this. Your road will most likely be longer than ours was - but I firmly believe, it will end, and it will with all 3 of your precious babies at home with you - sooner than you think. There are many of us who understand the ups and downs of having babies in the NICU, and we're all praying and cheering for you. BTW, your babies are absolutely beautiful. Congratulations.Little Wondershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12838087388263183081noreply@blogger.com
