Our doctor did not want him on zantac with being preemie because she felt it could make him more susceptible to sickness with a lower preemie immune system as it is. So we tried the easier route first and let Adam tell us if he needed something else. It was a little frustrating taking him home with reflux because he had to lay so still after a feeding. The doctor explained that during the time his stomach muscles developed it would get worse because they were contracting. But time passed and he outgrew it.

I think it is fabulous how awesome both kids are doing but Charlie especially. They typically say that a white male is the "laziest" baby - slowest to learn to eat, etc. But Charlie has been a champ. Our Adam was in the hospital an extra 17 days because he couldn't get his feedings down as well as Charlie is. We ended up taking shifts at the hospital to be there for every feeding so he could have the consistency.

I will begin praying that you can take both babies home together. It is heartaching getting discharged with one and leaving the other behind.JoLynnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10566235665807107905noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-25175745758864059622009-09-20T22:25:39.876-04:002009-09-20T22:25:39.876-04:00Hi Brooke and Joe.

I started reading your blog after your babies were born, mainly because of our similarities on opposite sides of the world. You see, apart from my Annaleigh, I also have two other girls. I don't have a Lily, but I have a Billie, and I don't have a Charlie, but I have a Zarlee! I also have a "Roy" cat.

Anyway, was just wondering, since your beautiful babies are doing so wonderfully, could we please also have an update on Roy? I would love to know if he realises what he is in for, when his new brother and sister come home in the next few weeks!

Thank you,
Your Australian reader.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-47994761836166825892009-09-20T22:05:08.183-04:002009-09-20T22:05:08.183-04:00Am so very, very happy for all of you. Digestion (as I'm sure you know by now) is one of the last things to develop in babies so it's normal that Charlie is having issues. I'm guessing you've tried formula made for sensitive tummies? I hope they continue to improve and that they can come home soon! : )#1SAHMhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10813673731457671165noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-37638002882983058472009-09-20T14:59:57.662-04:002009-09-20T14:59:57.662-04:00They are both so beautiful! And Charlie is so handsome!

Reflux is totally normal, full term babies deal with this everyday there are plenty of good medications to control it. My son dealt with the first few months and a modification in diet while Breast Feeding and a switch to a gentle formula after that along with medication controlled it quite nicely.

He's fine now!Kathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10231700696727028224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-37193655252286489252009-09-20T13:10:27.432-04:002009-09-20T13:10:27.432-04:00Hi there! Just wanted to say that your babies are...Hi there! Just wanted to say that your babies are beautiful! My Lilly had reflux pretty bad too. Her first 2 weeks in the NICU she was fine, then it just appeared. It took them a good 2 weeks to diagnose it, then a week to get it under control. She came home on an apnea monitor (just as a precaution) and 2 meds, zantac and reglan. We took her to the Apnea clinic once a month for 3 months. The very first visit they had us thickening her feedings, up to 2 tbsp per oz, but i stuck with 1 tbsp per oz..and i swear she was fixed instantly. Nothing the hospital suggested or tried helped, not even the meds. It was thickening the food. She stopped projectile vomiting and having episodes at all. She was off the monitor and meds by 3 months. Good luck with your little guy. I know it's so hard to see them in pain! Take care!Levonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02870510048587018195noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2194717345670669243.post-68301287385564098032009-09-20T12:57:51.972-04:002009-09-20T12:57:51.972-04:00They are both so beautiful and doing amazingly wel...They are both so beautiful and doing amazingly well!
